William (Bill) F. Ford, Sr. of Bedford passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Bill was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. After marrying his beloved wife Mary (Sullivan) Ford, he settled in Medford before moving to Bedford in 1973, where they raised their family and shared 63 loving years together. Bill later earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Suffolk University in Boston, balancing his studies while working and raising a family.
He is survived by his devoted children: William F. Ford Jr. and his wife Tina of Chelmsford, Eileen S. Hill and her husband Jeff of Billerica, and Thomas O. Ford and his wife Joan of Burlington.
Known as "Papa" to his seven grandchildren: Robert and Maryellen Brickey; Kaitlyn, TJ, and Julia Ford; and Keely and Patrick Ford. Bill is also survived by his sister Katherine Abina (Corcoran) Crowley of Amelia Island, FL, and was predeceased by his sister Margaret E. (Ford) Wolk of Medford and his brothers Patrick G. Corcoran and Richard G. Corcoran of Cambridge.
Bill started off at the Phone Company, and later had a successful career as a Capital Police Officer in Boston. Bill was known for his integrity, sharp wit, and passion for storytelling. Whether relaxing in his favorite chair sharing a good story with friends, or celebrating the accomplishments of his grandchildren, he lived a life filled with pride and joy for those he loved.
Visiting hours will be held in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Family and friends will gather at Shawsheen Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 9:00 AM for procession to a Funeral Mass in St. Michael's Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) Center at Massachusetts General Hospital.
