Vincent Alan "Al" Fay, Jr. died peacefully at his home in Bedford on July 6, 2021. He was born November 23, 1936, the son of Vincent Alan Fay and Loretta (Kelley) Fay. He is pre-deceased by his parents and his former wife, Mary (Geraci). He is survived by his son, Bruce Fay, Esquire of Oakland Park, FL; his brother, Andrew Fay and his wife, Marge of Greenland, NH; his sister, Jacqueline Stanton and her husband, Thomas of Milton, MA; his brother, Paul Fay and his wife, Audrey of Jupiter, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Al served honorably in the Massachusetts National Guard for twenty-three years and retired at the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Bakery Confectionery Workers International Union and he was employed for many years at Continental Baking Company until his retirement. Al was active in the Bedford community and he was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. For twenty-five years he participated in the Bedford Christmas programs and he enjoyed playing Santa Claus on Christmas Eve while delivering toys and gifts to local children. He volunteered as a cameraman for the Bedford Cable news and he served as a "Coronet" in the Bedford Minutemen. He enjoyed participating in parades and ceremonies as well as the annual re-enactments on Patriot's Day. In 2019, he was selected to be one of the Grand Marshalls of the parade. Al was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots and he enjoyed traveling to Florida each year to attend spring training. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 in Shawsheen Funeral Home 5pm to 6pm. Funeral Service in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 10AM with burial to follow at 1:30pm in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA 02432. Family and friends invited.
