Shirley A. (Dietrich) McAlpin of Lexington passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on August 13, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Glen P. McAlpin Sr.

Loving mother of Jed Krol and his wife Mary of Woburn, Glen P. McAlpin Jr. and fiancée Kristen Spencer of Dracut, the late Jeffrey L. Krol and the late Deborah J. (McAlpin) Ranucci. Grandmother of seven: Megan Krol, Thomas Krol, the late William Ranucci, the late Glen Ranucci, Richard Ranucci, Matthew Ranucci, and Michael Ranucci. Also survived by seven  great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Shirley loved the beach, shopping, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her vegetable garden and going out to eat with her family.

Visiting hours will be held in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, 2024 3pm to 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to MSPCA at Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Avenue, Salem, MA 01970 are appreciated.
