Rodney "Rocket" Bayer Andrews of Lexington, Bedford, and Billerica died on October 28, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease; he was 83 years old.
Rodney lived in Lexington until he was 8 years old, then moved to Bedford with his family and attended the Bedford school system graduating in 1961. He continued is education by attending classes for electronics. He worked for J.H. Emerson Co. in Cambridge, a medical device manufacturer, for 44 years until its closing in 2007.
Rodney had various interests from repairing his own cars and CB radios to collecting ham radios of all vintages. He was very meticulous in whatever job he took on like installing new kitchen cabinets; he also planned out and installed a furnace and cooling system.
Rodney moved to Billerica in 1992 after living in Bedford for 42 years. After 30 years in Billerica and his Alzheimer's worsening, he moved to The Residence at Freeman Lake North in Chelmsford, MA.
Rodney never married and he lived his life as he wanted. He was caring, helpful, and dedicated to his job, a few friends and his family. Rodney was a member of the Massachusetts National Guard.
Rodney is predeceased by his parents, George R. and Elsie O. (Bayer) Andrews; brother Charles R. Andrews and his wife Lil; brother Alan G. Andrews; and four nephews, Daniel R. Andrews, and Jeffrey, Jimmy, and Scott Graham.
He is survived by his brother Wayne W. Andrews and his wife Frances of Manchester, NH; nephews, Matthew A. Andrews and his wife Chheji of Yarmouth Port, Michael W. Andrews of FL, and Jeffrey Marion of Nashua, NH; and nieces, Mary Giradin of NH, Deborah Gavriel of Lowell, Venessa Marion of Billerica, Jessica Marion of Lowell and Cheryl Sampson of Townsend.
A graveside Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 in Shawsheen Cemetery, 1 Shawsheen Road, Bedford, MA at 1pm. Family and friends are invited.
