Rachel L. (Lewis) Murphy, a long-time resident and active community member of Bedford died on December 3, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Lt. Col. Edward M. Murphy III.

Loving mother of Dawn of Tewksbury, Denita of Wrentham, Edward M. IV and his wife Ligia of Dorchester, and Crystal and her husband Jonathan of Medway; grandmother of Aiesha, Andrew, Olivia, Mackensie, Mykia, and Gavin. Sister of the late Gloria Willis, Harry Lewis Jr, and Q.Maxie Lewis. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Rachel was born September 23, 1942. She was married 56 1/2 years and loved raising her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm.

On Friday December 8, 2023, a procession will leave from Shawsheen Funeral Home at 9:30am; Funeral Service in First Baptist Church of Bedford, 155 Concord Rd., BEDFORD at 10am; burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Buzzards Bay, MA at 1:45pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bedford Free Public Library or any organization that plants a tree are appreciated.
