They lived in Lexington for a short while before moving to Bedford, where Peter received his education. He claimed he was a student of every elementary school in town. He graduated from Bedford High School class of 1971 where he won the award for Industrial Arts. He was an auto mechanic for most of his life and willing to help friends and family with their car repairs (his way) as fast as possible: there was Golf to play!!!
Peter was very proud of his time with the Pat Metheny Group, traveling all over Europe and Japan as a roadie. He loved music, along with riding his Harley, going places with his friends on the bike for many years, going to Laconia for Bike Night on the boulevard. Peter had many loves in his life: music, motorcycles, food, fishing, hunting with his brothers and there was golf: dropping everything to go for a week or a weekend, not missing a chance to play, He went to Myrtle Beach, Ticonderoga, all over New England, England, and the Karlson Open!! He made many friends golfing and his last job was working at the Chelmsford Country Club, his home course for 35 years,
Peter is survived by his sister Marsha Karlson of Pittsfield MA and five brothers, Douglas and Carol Karlson of Oregon and their family, Ronald Karlson of Dublin, NH and his family, Brad Karlson of Lowell, Jon and Susan Karlson of Chelmsford and their family, and James Karlson of Pittsfield and his family, and many nieces and nephews with reference to Uncle Grumpy!! Also survived by many cousins and all of his friends. He will be missed.
Peter will be buried in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford after a small private service. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for June 22, 2024 at 2pm at the Chelmsford Country Club, 66 Park Road, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
Peter will be missed by all his friends and family; he did leave an impression on everyone he met.
