Deeply beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Norma Jean Shaeffer Boyce, 92, lived a long, happy life and passed away peacefully on the morning of April 17, 2024 with family by her side in her lovely home in Bedford, Massachusetts.

Born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania in 1931, Norma resided in Japan and Hawaii for over 30 years. Norma Jean met her life-long partner the late Clayton Boyce in Kailua of Oahu, Hawaii and married one year later in Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1974. During their time there, their love flourished as they embraced the Hawaiian lifestyle and culture. Even after traveling the world and settling down in Bedford in 1987, they continued to share their spirit of aloha to their friends.

Norma Jean was an avid reader and artist who loved painting beautiful pastels of landscapes, flowers, and fruits. Alongside Clayton, Norma Jean enjoyed antiquing throughout the state of Massachusetts.

Norma Jean and Clayton were active members in the First Church of Christ Congregational in Bedford.

In her new life, Norma Jean joins her beloved Clayton exactly one year after his passing and her late son Neil. Throughout this year, time spent with her daughter Margaret Jean was cherished wholeheartedly.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Margaret and grandchildren Tiana Mahealani Ranjo, Andrea Jean Victoria Ranjo, Andrew and Regina Morishige, and great-grandchildren Georgina Katherine Morishige, William Anthony Morishige, and Matthew Gregory Morishige.

A gathering of remembrance for Norma Jean by family and friends was held in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 22, 2024.
