Nancy Lee Laurin of Bedford passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026 at the age of 87. She was born in San Diego, California on March 15, 1939. A resident of Bedford for more than 45 years, she was the beloved wife of David Laurin.
She is survived by her husband David; her six children: Amanda McDonald and her husband Scott; Kristen Lawrence and her husband Paul; David Wheeler and his wife Jill; Kimberly Porter and her partner Peter Sullivan; Kara Gast and her husband Dieter; and Lia St. Armand.
She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Stephen, Christi, Melissa, Justin, Alex, Benjamin, Sydney, David, Cedric, Isabel, Cowan, and Caiden, as well as her great-grandchildren, Bowman, River, Willow and Grady.
She was predeceased by her parents, Capt. Benjamin Lee McMakin and Mada Margaret Fromme McGill
She spent much of her career with Raytheon, working in Greenland on a three-month-on, three-month-off rotation. It was there that she met David Laurin, whom she later married. During her three months off, they traveled to and lived in Aruba, a place she came to love and where they created many happy memories together.
She had a lifelong love of dogs, especially Schnauzers, and always enjoyed having them as part of her family. She also found pleasure in gardening and spending time outdoors.
After retiring from Raytheon, she and David returned to Bedford, where they enjoyed a quieter life together with their dogs, close to family and friends.
Her faith was an important part of her life. She was a longtime member of her church and enjoyed attending services whenever she was able. She valued the friendships and sense of community she found there.
She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her love of travel, her appreciation for simple pleasures, and her devotion to her family.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Michael's Church in Bedford on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 10am. Family and friends are invited.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any animal rescue organization.
