Obituary

"What matters is how we live and love, and how we spend our dash," Linda Ellis. Malcolm's dash spanned 90 years in Massachusetts; born in Arlington and raised in Lexington. With his then wife, Theresa McMahan-Eaton, they built their first house in Littleton, and spent 18 years with four kids in Bedford. His last 37 years were lived in Westford. His strong work ethic came from his Mom and Dad and growing up in the Great Depression. He loved working on and racing cars with his buddies. He was proud of his Korean War tour of duty in the Seabees, the construction battalion of the U.S. Navy stationed in the Philippines where he had a pet monkey, built boats, and drove Admirals to their posts. After leaving the Navy, he built his own boat to fish off of Long Beach in Rockport where they summered. Malcolm took over his Dad's business, Universal Cabinet Company, which eventually changed to Eaton and Sons when his sons, Malcolm and Mark joined. He was a master cabinet maker. Their customers spanned Cafe Budapest, Harvard University, and Saint Ignatius Church to name a few. Their talents extended to family, friends, and neighbors. His dedication and love for his children included being both a scout and 4-H leader and never missing a game. He photographed it all. They had a plethora of pets including goats, ponies, chickens, rabbits, cats, and dogs. He was an avid gardener whose gardens were named The Garden of Eaton. He took pride in his orchids. Malcolm was quite the chef and passed his love of cooking to his kids. He was known as the Gravy Master and Stuffing Expert. He always said that life after death continues through your children and his legacy is extensive. He is survived by his children, Malcolm Eaton, Jr., Mark Eaton, Deborah Eaton, and Michelle Eaton-Hebert; grandchildren, Malcolm Eaton. III, Tatiana Eaton-Nygren, Andre Eaton, Tyler Eaton, Rebecca Eaton, Victoria Eaton, Kiandra Hebert, Ashley Hebert-DeMeola and Nick Hebert and great-grandchildren, Maddox Eaton, Declan Eaton, Delilah Eaton, Noah Crowley, Charlotte Crowley, Killian Nygren, and Clare DeMelola. He is also survived by his youngest sister Nancy Sundra-Fulks, and many loving nieces and nephews. Malcolm is pre-deceased by his parents, Gordon and Virginia Eaton and sisters, Virginia Rich and Alice Benson. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society of Nashua, 24 Ferry Road, Nashua, NH 03064 are appreciated. There will be no wake or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the future.
