Louis J. Ennis, of Bedford, MA, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2022, at the age of 93.

Lou was the beloved husband of Roberta "Bobbie" (Aymie) Ennis, with whom he shared 64 loving years of marriage.

Lou was also the devoted father of Chuck Ennis of NYC, NY; Jean (Ennis) Gaylor and her husband Jack of Bedford, MA; Mark Ennis of Cumming, GA; Sean Ennis and his wife Julie of Billerica, MA; and Caroline (Ennis) Fedele and her husband Rich of Bedford, MA.

Lou was born in Boston, MA as one of eight siblings. Lou is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and predeceased by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law.

Lou was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and a graduate of Boston College, with Master's Degrees in Business Administration and Economics. He was employed by Brandeis University for 30 years and a Professor at Northeastern University for more than 10 years.

A devoted parishioner of St. Michael's Church for 60 years, he served as a Catechist and Lector for many years while also participating in countless church activities over the decades. In addition, Lou was regularly involved in Town of Bedford functions as a committee member and volunteer. He also served as President of the Bedford Athletic Association and Town of Bedford Personnel Manager.

Over the years, Lou also held many formal and informal coaching and volunteer roles. Lou was well- known for his love of all sports, reading, and spending time with his family, especially at the beach.

Most of all – Lou was a family man first. Family was the love of, and at the center of, his life.

Lou was a true soft-spoken and humble gentleman with a warm, genuine smile that everyone connected to and adored.

Visiting hours in Shawsheen Funeral Home, 281 Great Rd., Bedford on Wednesday November 9, 2022 from 4 to 8 pm. The funeral procession assembles at Shawsheen Funeral Home on Thursday November 10, 2022 at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Michael's Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford at 10 am.
