Obituary

Kathy Ann (Colombo) Murphy died on May 14, 2021. Kathy was born in Malden June 9, 1952 and grew up in Bedford. She graduated from Northeastern University and worked as a Physical therapist for the veterans administration for 35 years. She worked her way up to running her own office at the Lowell VA Hospital. After marrying Stephen Murphy, they lived in Westford for six years before buying their final home in Chelmsford. After retiring, their dream of becoming snowbirds came true and they would split their time living in Chelmsford and Fort Pierce, Florida. Kathy enjoyed knitting, ceramics, yard saling, taking walks on the Fort Pierce Jetty and Boardwalk along the beach, listening to live music at the winery, spending time with family up at the lake watching cans melt in the camp fire, and spending time up at the Bay of Fundy in Canada visiting for family reunions. Kathy was a Boston sports fan and loved watching the Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins with family and friends. Additionally, Kathy enjoyed camping at Mi-Te-Jo, going to Disney World, taking her time coming home up north, stopping in different states to visit with family and friends, going to museums with her husband Steve and telling stories. Kathy is survived by her husband Stephen Murphy; sons, Brian Murphy and Jonathan Murphy; brother Bruce Colombo; sister Jayne Colombo; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends gathered for a Memorial Service in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Saturday, August 21, 2021.
