Obituary

Jeanne Margaret Reidy passed quietly on Monday, May 5, 2025. Aged 90, she lived a full life beginning in the Bronx, NY. She was educated by the Nuns up through college at Mount Saint Vincent College, where she trained to become a nurse. Despite her desire to travel early in her life, she married her college boyfriend, William Reidy, in 1957. He and Jeanne later traveled together to many places, of which her favorite was Greece.

In 1961, they moved from New York to Bedford, where they lived for many years, and raised four children. Their marriage lasted 48 years, until Bill's passing in 2005.

In the mid-70's, Jeanne trained to become a nurse practitioner at the University of Lowell. Jeanne specialized in Gerontology, and worked at the Chelsea Soldier's Home and the Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham, and at Carleton Willard in Bedford. She began taking art classes in the '60s and painting became a joy that lasted throughout her life. She served as President of the Bedford Arts and Crafts Society and the Bedford Women's Club. She was active in the Bedford Santa Program, volunteered at St. Michael's Parish, and thoroughly enjoyed Gourmet Group gatherings. Her eye for decorating turned her home and gardens into a work of art.

When Bill retired, he and Jeanne were able to enjoy time sailing in Mattapoisett Bay and spending winters in Naples, Florida. She loved spending time with her family, especially with the grandchildren. She went to every dance recital, baptism, school or life event she could make, and every summer she made a bee-line to the Cape to be with family.

Jeanne is predeceased by her husband Bill, daughter-in-law Marianne, brother Richard, and grandson Kevin. She leaves behind her four children, Suzanne Arnone and her husband Frank, Bill Reidy and his wife Elaine, Brian Reidy and his wife Karen, and Sharon Reidy, as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
