Frances (Dobrovolsky) Jonuskis, 88, passed away on July 14, 2024, in Burlington, MA. Born on September 24, 1935, in Cambridge, MA. Frances is remembered by family and friends for her warmth and spirit. She resided in Bedford since 1965.

She leaves her loving husband of 69 years, Algert Jonuskis; son John Jonuskis, daughter Diane Jonuskis, and grandson Ryan Jonuskis. She was predeceased by her son David Jonuskis and daughter JoAnn Jonuskis.

After graduating high school, she worked at MIT in Cambridge on the first computer, Whirlwind —the fastest digital computer of its time. The research project and documents eventually moved to Lincoln Lab and then to MITRE. The precursor to modern-day computers, Whirlwind's fingerprints are evident in today's software and hardware. While working at MITRE she was the lead word processor and editor of the newsletter magazine, MITRE Matters. She worked at The MITRE Corporation for 25 years

She loved reading books, quilting, sewing and gardening. She had a great sense of humor, loved animals and shopping at the Mall.

Burial was in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford. Further details regarding memorial services will be announced at a later date.
