IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elio
Cerchione
June 23, 1960 – June 15, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elio Cerchione on June 15th, 2025, after a sudden and hard battle with Guillain Barre Syndrome. He was 64 years old.
Born in Italy on June 23rd, 1960, Elio moved to the States as a boy, spending his youth in the Belmont and Waltham area before settling in Bedford for many years where his daughter attended school. In his 20's, Elio opened a hair salon, Salon Di Elio, located in Belmont, MA later moving his shop to Waltham where he was in business for over 35 years. He was a wonderful stylist, colorist, barber who truly enjoyed going to work and connecting with people daily. He was very involved in the local community and many of his clients became lifelong friends.
Elio had many hobbies, but gardening and cooking were two true passions. He could grow anything and had gardens everywhere...his house, the salon, families' houses, friends, clients, he might have even snuck some plants in your yard when you weren't looking! Plants for him made places more beautiful. They brought life to the home. He used all that he grew in the kitchen. He was a fantastic cook who found real happiness and joy in preparing meals and entertaining, making everyone feel welcome with his infectious warmth, love, and laughter.
In recent years, Elio retired to south Florida where he spent his time doing all his favorite hobbies full-time. He loved the warm weather and being outside year-round. He loved the beach and his boat. He enjoyed driving his Jeep with the doors off and music up. He enjoyed building. He recently built a huge outdoor pizza oven, a chicken coop, and was in the midst of other projects. He loved visiting his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He enjoyed life and the people he met along the way, making friends everywhere. Always smiling, always joking, leaving a lasting impression everywhere he went. Elios' memory will forever live in our hearts.
Elio is survived by his only daughter, Stephanie Whelan, her husband Paul, their four beautiful boys, Matthew, Jacob, Ryan and Eric; his two brothers Domenic and Gianfranco; his sister Ornella, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Monday June 30th, 2025 9-11am. Burial will follow at 11:30am inShawsheen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited.
