Chesley T.
Logcher
Chesley T. Logcher, 86, of Bedford, Massachusetts peacefully passed away in June surrounded by loved ones. She was the only child of Elizabeth (Hastings) and Raymon Denver Tellier. She grew up in Watertown, Massachusetts and moved to Lowell in 1949.
Chesley loved the water and spent summers in Biddeford, Maine. She was valedictorian of the class of 1954 at Moody Junior High School going on to Lowell High School, graduating with the class of 1957. Chesley later completed a two-year program at Katharine Gibbs in Boston in 1959 and worked at Ginn & Co and Cabot Corporation.
She met and married Professor Robert D Logcher of Scarsdale, New York and they were married for 58 years until his passing in 2021. Together, they raised their family and introduced them to the outdoors through backpacking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. In the early 1970s, they became avid sailors, traveling the Atlantic coast from Nova Scotia to Florida, Bermuda, and many Caribbean islands. Chesley and Bob lived aboard their sailing vessel Cygnet and spent 20 winters in Georgetown, Exuma in the Bahamas.
Chesley and Bob were active members of the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Bedford during the 1960s and 1970s. She was also a Camp Fire Girls leader and sang in several choral groups including the Bedford Choral Society, MIT Women’s League and the Nashua Choral Society. She was an avid reader and bird watcher, known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She enjoyed mystery television shows and loved trying to solve the mystery before the ending.
Chesley is survived by her three children: Suzanne Logcher, Erica Richards and her husband Mark, and Daniel Logcher and his wife Susan; and her four grandchildren: Ethan, Emma, Scott and Amanda.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chesley’s name to the American Cancer Society or the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Bedford, Massachusetts.
