Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Lipson passed on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. He was the loving husband of Christine (Georgeopoulos) Lipson. Born in Greenfield, MA, Chuck spent his childhood in Western MA. Beloved father of Beth L. Morrill and her husband Dan of Chelmsford, Katherine A. Chaisson and her husband Edward of Tewksbury, Jeffrey D. Lipson and his wife Angela of Concord, and Perry S. Lipson and his wife Tamara of Jacksonville, FL. Loving grandfather of nine grandchildren: Colby and Jarret Morrill, Karah Chaisson, Mia and Hannah Lipson, and Maddison, Cameron, Harrison and Daighon Lipson. He is pre-deceased by his first wife Floris (Glater) Lipson. Chuck achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Scouting. He graduated Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1960. Upon graduation, he fulfilled his ROTC commitment in the US Army. He married his first wife Flo soon after graduation and started his career working in New Jersey for General Electric. In 1962 they moved to Bedford where he began a long career as an engineer with Raytheon Missile Systems Division, working at numerous Raytheon facilities in the Greater Boston until his retirement in 2003. When his children were young, he taught part-time as an instructor at Fitchburg State College. He was passionate about instilling knowledge to others, and this was something that continued throughout his life. He raised his three children, Beth, Jeff and Perry, in the same house in Bedford that he resided in. After Floris passed in 1981, Chuck married Christine (Chris) in 1987. The family expanded with the addition of Chris's daughter Katherine. Chuck and Chris spent 34 loving years together. After his retirement, Chuck combined his love of travel with his passion of walking. Together with Chris, this took both to many walking destinations around the world where he was able to visit with family and friends. He was very active in the local walking club and served for many years as the membership chair. Living in Bedford for 59 years, he enjoyed being active in the Bedford community, volunteering many town committees, organizations, and initiatives. Most importantly, Chuck cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family. A funeral service celebrating Chuck's life was held in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Friday, December 17, 2021, attended by family and many, many friends. Burial followed in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford. Please consider making a donation in Chuck's memory to Dr. Patrick Ott's Research Fund (9618319), Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
