Carol S. Mudgett, daughter of the late Gladys (Lyons) Shea and Raymund Shea, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Oct 23, 2026, after a brief illness. She was 98 years old.

Carol was born in Cambridge MA on July 31, 1928. She grew up in Watertown MA and spent summers in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. After graduating from the Massachusetts College of Art in 1949, she taught art in the Farmington CT public schools.

Carol married Walter L. Mudgett in 1951. They moved to Bedford MA in 1954 where she lived for the rest of her life.

Carol was predeceased by her sister Christine Shea, who died in infancy, and her former husband Walter.

Carol is survived by her seven children: Stephen Mudgett, Christine Mudgett (Frederick Van Bennekom), Mark Mudgett, Susan Mudgett, Mary Elizabeth O’Donnell, Paul Mudgett, and Ann Hyatt; and her two grandchildren Benjamin Hyatt and Robin Hyatt-Davenport (Joseph Hyatt-Davenport).

Funeral Services are private. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your own choosing.
