In loving memory of Barbara M. Duling, age 83, who passed away on May 21, 2022 from the ravages of cancer.
She was the devoted wife of Joel W. Duling for sixty two years; the loving mother of three sons, Shawn, Erin, and Brian and the Grandmother of her precious granddaughter Shayla M. Duling who predeceased her in 2013.
Barbara was born on March 2, 1939 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and lived there until her family moved to Bedford, Massachusetts where she graduated from Concord High School. She then worked in Concord until she met and married her husband Joel who was in the military and, only a few days after they were married, they moved to his next assignment in Minot, North Dakota where they lived for over three years and where her two oldest children were born.
Barbara was a kind, caring and giving person who loved her family dearly and always put the needs of others before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Though she was blinded by macular degeneration for over twenty years and was stricken with other serious disabilities through the years after the onset of her blindness, she fought each one with bravery and without complaint, taking life as it came, and knowing she would be with her God when it was over. She was a source of inspiration to all who knew her and though her activities became limited by her disabilities, she loved life, and every thing she did, every day, was an adventure for her. She will be deeply missed by her family who love her unconditionally, and all who knew and loved her. She will always be alive in our hearts.
( I just looked out the window and my back yard is filled with buttercups. I think God just told me he has you with him.) May you rest in peace Barbara.
In order to protect her friends and extended family from the COVID virus, the funeral services were private and were held in Shawsheen Funeral Home in Bedford, Massachusetts on May 25th. Please make any donations to honor Barbara to your local Salvation Army.
