It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur "Gordon" Bishop Jr. 73, of Bedford, who left us peacefully on January 21, 2025 at Emerson Hospital after years of battling Alzheimer's disease. Gordon was born in Waltham, MA and moved to Bedford at a young age when his parents, the late Arthur and Althea Bishop, opened Bedford Jewelers in 1954. Gordon graduated from Bedford High School in 1969 and went on to receive a bachelor's degree from Babson College in 1973. He went on to study Gemology at the Gemological Institute of America and graduated in 1974.

Gordon was fun, generous, laid back, and quite an athlete. He loved skiing, golfing, and bowling which brought joy to his life and those around him. In his younger years, he would host many fun, memorable get-togethers with family and friends. He had a warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering spirit. As a GIA Graduate Gemologist and jewelry store owner, he dedicated his life to Bedford Jewelers, where he worked with his parents and siblings, Barbara Sardzinski and Shirley O'Connor.

Gordon is survived by his beloved family, including sister Shirley O'Connor; nephew Mark Sardzinski; nieces, Aimee Cormier, Laura Dos Santos, Sarah Willett, their families, and many friends - all who will cherish his memory forever. Gordon's legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 27th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Shawsheen Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 28th at 11:00 a.m. in Shawsheen Funeral Home, followed by burial in Shawsheen Cemetery.
