Anna Maria Lindley, a gifted and dedicated MD, died in Plymouth, MA on November 15, 2022.

Born June 18, 1963 in Rome, Italy, Anna was an extraordinarily brilliant student in high-school and had graduated from Harvard College magna cum laude for a thesis showing, on the basis of various kinds of Chinese government statistics, that the Maoist "Barefoot Doctors Program" (quickly trained paramedics sent out from cities to villages) had very little effect on rural children's health, the decisive factors being nutrition, how much formal schooling the mothers had or didn't have, and average distance in each district to the nearest hospital.

While in college, Anna began suffering symptoms of the auto-immune disease Lupus, which afflicted her for several decades.

Anna earned a PhD in Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University and an MD with specialization in Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University. Her best years were spent as the attending pediatric neurologist at a hospital in North Dakota. She resigned from that position when the hospital was sold to a predatory corporation that insisted that she spend less time on helping each patient.

Anna's talent is remembered. A friend with whom she remained in contact during most of her last years commented that a lecture on ADHD which she had given in 2009 at a med-school in Texas showed "How deeply she cared! And how thorough her work!" A Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association who knows about her work in North Dakota has commented that she " ... had rare and special gifts. Her interest in helping and understanding children with rare afflictions showed her dedication to using her talents and hard work to remedy human suffering."

Anna is survived by her father Mark Lindley of India and uncle Rick Miller of NY.
