Alan Gardner Andrews (Al), born in Waltham on April 12, 1945, lived in Lexington until moving with his family to Bedford in 1950. He attended the Bedford school system and graduated class of 1963. After school and on Saturdays he worked at the First National grocery store in The Great Road Shopping Center.

Alan enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in March of 1965 and was discharged in 1968. He was a member of American Legion Post #221 in Bedford for more than 50 years. He also belonged to the Bedford Bowling League (the nips).

After getting out of the Air Force, Alan worked for a short time for GE Credit Corp. in Waltham, then tried other vocations including Chelmsford Auto Parts, McGovern's Package Store, Bedford Jenny gas station and partnered with his brother Bob in Andrews Brothers Landscaping & Snow Plowing before settling in at the JH Emerson Co., a medical device manufacturer in Cambridge. He became Emerson's Quality Assurance and Control Manager with training in Internal Quality Audits, Quality Management Systems ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001 Internal audits, retiring after 29 years when the company was sold in 2007.

Alan was predeceased by his parents, George R. and Elsie O. (Bayer) Andrews; brother Charges R. (Bob) Andrews and his wife Lil; and four nephews, Daniel R. Andrews and Jeffrey, Jimmy, and Scott Graham.

He is survived by brothers, Wayne W. Andrews and his wife Frances Andrews of Manchester, NH and Rodney B. Andrews of North Chelmsford; nephews, Matthew A. Andrews (his godson) and his wife Chheji of Yarmouth Port, Michael W. Andrews of FL, and Jeffrey Marion of Nashua, NH; nieces, Mary Girardin of NH, Debarah Gavriel of Lowell, Venessa Marion of Billerica, Jessica Marion of Lowell, and Cheryl Sampson of Townsend.

Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Service in Shawsheen Cemetery on September 11, 2025 at noon.
